Marooned! @ Baltimore Theatre Project

Alex & Olmsted (creators of the Jim Henson Foundation Grant awarded Milo the Magnificent) return to Baltimore Theatre Project with the world premiere of Marooned! a new show that takes place at the outer reaches of space. An astronaut crashes on an uncharted planet and has to face strange creatures, anomalous atmosphere, and isolation with only her Autonomous Task Assistant (ATA) to help her survive. Featuring award-winning puppetry, theater and visuals, this show is for all ages and you can get tickets at this link. GA tickets are $20, $15 for student/senior/artist/military. May 2nd is a pay-what-you-can performance.

Homebodies

Puppeteers extraordinaire Alex Vernon and Sarah Olmstead Thomas reprise their whimsical and comedic production of Homebodies, the story of a sweetly off-kilter partnership centered around a trunk-sized wooden box full of enchanting twists and turns. A combination of engineering, improv, puppetry and culinary arts that will delight all ages.

Visions of Love

Pointless Theatre Co. presents ‘Visions of Love,’ a stage adaptation of the classic Charlie Chaplin film City Lights, which tells the tale of a young man hopelessly trying to help a blind woman after falling in love with her. This production features Kerry McGee as the tramp and Sharalys Silva as the blind woman, and the puppetry of Alex Vernon.

At this show, recommended for ages five and above, you’ll stare at the ceiling. A lot. But for all the right reasons.

Air Play dazzles with its aerial concoctions of confetti, fabric, umbrellas and more. This circus-style adventure tells the story of two siblings journeying through a surreal land of air, transforming the ordinary into objects of uncommon beauty.

This show is the brainchild of the Acrobuffos, a comedic duo from New York City comprised of Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone.

Mummenschanz: ‘you and me’

What happens when you combine puppetry, dance, object manipulation and acrobatic movement? You get the wondrous creations of Mummenschanz, a 45-year-old Swiss troupe whose latest work, you and me, offers insights into the human condition through large-scale masks, creative light and shadow play, and surprising maneuvers with everyday items.

If you were to seek out Mummenschanz’s parallel artists, you might turn up the imaginative puppetry of Basil Twist, the off-the-wall inflatables of Fred Garbo or the ingenious juggling ensembles of Jon Held.
