Got sawdust in your veins?

Then you’re in good company…

In the heart of the nation’s capital, the Circus District is a collaborative network of circus practitioners, organizations and fans who recognize that excellence in teaching and performing circus serves as an invigorating force for good, and who strive to build the capacity of circus arts to reach audiences at home and abroad.

We bring circus educators, performers, organizations and enthusiasts to play together, to learn together, and to change the world.

The Founders & Directors

In 2017, the Circus District was founded in a Brookland coffee shop by Christian Kloc and Lottie Byram. Over the course of their careers, they have worn many circus hats. Both are performing artists and coaches in a variety of disciplines, have led circus programs, and are active members of DC area circus organizations. Needless to say, they’re passionate about the general beauty and power of circus to effect personal and social change.
