Krampusnacht/Bah Humbug Krampus Ball

At the corner of naughty and nice, discover Krampusnacht DC, an annual event celebrating the European Krampuslauf tradition. In short, Krampus is the evil counterpart of Saint Nick who punishes misbehaving children, like ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ come to life!

Check your holiday cheer at the door (and find an outlet for your wintry angst) at the Bah Humbug Krampus Ball, featuring performances of contortion, juggling, music, burlesque and more on the Black Cat mainstage. Ticket are available at this link, and sales benefit Santa’s Cause DC, an area nonprofit that provides gifts for youth in the foster system. This in an all-ages event and includes time to visit with Santa and Krampus from 7-8 p.m. prior to the show. Parents are advised to use discretion, as some acts feature adult content.

In Cabaret We Trust

September 7th, 8th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th @ 8 p.m., September 10th @ 7 p.m.

In Cabaret We Trust is a fully-immersive theatre experience featuring sideshow and variety entertainment that begins as soon as the audience arrives. It is set within the walls of the 15,000+ sq. ft. desanctified church, Blind Whino. This immersive production will highlight not only the acts on the mainstage, but also the tangled web of stories just below the surface. Drawing on influences from the Weimar Republic era, the production explores themes of power and control, as well as resistance and artistic spirit.

CulturalDC is pleased to present TBD (Tradition Be Dammed) Immersive’s theatrical experience that explores the ties between Weimar Republic-era Berlin in the 1920’s and, nearly a century later, what could be DC’s future.

Note: The September 7th date is a preview performance. Tickets are $45 for general admission, or $80 for two with code ‘DUET.’ Student tickets are $35.

Silent Chill: Fiery Silent Disco Dance Party

Do you like fire jams, LED see-saws and a proper get-down on a Friday night? Silent Chill is overqualified to meet your needs. Enjoy a silent disco, costume contest and fiery circus entertainment all night long. From 10 to 10:30 p.m., event host Peculiarity Productions will perform fire manipulation, and also preview their Fringe show 8 Bit Circus S*it, which will bring video games from the console to the stage through fire arts — and if you need a more tantalizing description, this is ‘a show where pyro fighters battle for supremacy and the audience feels the terror of being trapped in the nightmare world of Silent Hill.’ AKA awesome.
