Aura CuriAtlas Physical Theatre: ‘Dream Logic’

Through acrobatic feats and wordless storytelling, the Aura CuriAtlas physical theatre troupe presents Dream Logic, a collection of magical vignettes with themes like ‘Newton’s cradle’ and ‘bucket of youth.’ This Virginia-based company includes performers from Connecticut, Illinois and Cyprus, with backgrounds in dance, choreography, acrobatics, aerial arts and music.

This is a free performance (no tickets required), hosted by Millennium Stage.

Gymkana Homeshow 2019

Witness the incredible feats of the University of Maryland’s long-running (and long-flipping) gymnastics troupe at the Gymkana Homeshow. In this two-hour extravaganza, you’ll see trampoline, juggling, tumbling, partner balancing, and jumping through hoops of fire, among other electrifying acts.

Momix: Opus Cactus

Momix is a Connecticut-born dance company that blurs the lines between dance, circus and visual architecture. Drawing on the acrobatic maneuvers of partner balancing, wheel apparatuses, pole vaulting and aerial arts, their creation Opus Cactus brings to life the stark landscape of the American Southwest.

The New Chinese Acrobats

Prepare for an amazing display of classic Chinese acrobatics fused with modern techniques in the New Chinese Acrobats. This troupe has performed acts in the Monte Carlo Circus Festival and the World Circus Festival in Paris. In this show, they’ve collaborated with Montreal-based company Cirque Éloize to create an extraordinary experience of raw talent and beautiful staging that you won’t want to miss.

Active Flexibility Workshops

June 8th @ 6:30-8 p.m. (One-Time Workshop)

June 12th/19th/26th and July 3rd @ 7-8:30 p.m. (Workshop Series)

Learn how to safely increase your range of motion through a variety of exercises with instructor Jessica John. This workshop uses a dynamic warm-up sequence, soft-tissue preparation, nerve glides and muscle activation to allow you to improve muscular efficiency, build strength and heighten motor control. These exercises are geared toward aerialists, athletes, dancers, yogis and movement teachers.

You may also take advantage of a four-week Tuesday evening workshop series to enhance specific types of flexibility, including front splits (Week 1), shoulders (Week 2), middle splits (Week 3) and back (Week 4).
