Chinese Warriors of Peking

Active Flexibility Workshops

June 8th @ 6:30-8 p.m. (One-Time Workshop)

June 12th/19th/26th and July 3rd @ 7-8:30 p.m. (Workshop Series)

Learn how to safely increase your range of motion through a variety of exercises with instructor Jessica John. This workshop uses a dynamic warm-up sequence, soft-tissue preparation, nerve glides and muscle activation to allow you to improve muscular efficiency, build strength and heighten motor control. These exercises are geared toward aerialists, athletes, dancers, yogis and movement teachers.

You may also take advantage of a four-week Tuesday evening workshop series to enhance specific types of flexibility, including front splits (Week 1), shoulders (Week 2), middle splits (Week 3) and back (Week 4).

Hand to Hand Contemporary Circus Festival

May 29th – June 3rd @ FringeArts Philadelphia

Take a road trip to Philadelphia for an incredible display of circus arts at Hand to Hand: A FringeArts Circus Festival. Find all the information and tickets at this link.

The lineup includes Montreal-based Barcode Circus Company performing Sweat & Ink, a surrealistic exploration of society’s relationship to memory and time. Their performers use cigar box juggling, Russian bar, hand to hand and aerial hoop to develop this theme and explain how our brains can remodel our recollections.

Also enjoy Circadium’s Innovations, a showcase of nine artists from the recently founded circus school in Philadelphia. They will perform 12 ensemble-based acts including hoop diving, juggling and contortion with live musical accompaniment.

At Test Flights, you’ll see some of the regions most ground-breaking circus artists workshop their new material that cross-pollinates with other art forms. Performers include Kyle Driggs and Andrea Murillo, members of Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, Sasha Harrington and Andrew Adams, Nicole Burgio and more.

LIFT Intermediate Immersion — DC Edition

June 15-17 and June 22-23 @ Dance Loft on 14

Join the LIFT School of Acrobatics team for a two-weekend immersion course in intermediate acrobatic skills including L-basing washing machines, Icarian pops, handstand training and strength and flexibility exercises. This course also helps prepare students to apply for the LIFT Teacher Apprenticeship Program.

AcroLove Festival — East Coast

July 27th – 29th @ Walter E. Washington Convention Center

Join hundreds of acrobats for the 2018 AcroLove Festival, a three-day event including an acro tour of D.C., workshops with more than 50 supportive teachers and a Saturday night acro jam party. The 20+ classes per day on Saturday and Sunday draw from the knowledge and practice of yoga, circus, cheerleading and therapeutic movement.
